I just wanted to share some pictures and a few details about how its going losing the baby weight and baby bump!
This was the last day I was pregnant: (40 weeks, 2 days)
This is later in the morning the same day that I had the baby ~
This is day 2 postpartum ~ (at home after a day of running back and forth to the hospital to nurse)
Day 3 postpartum ~ (at the hospital in my room in the pediatrics department!)
Day 5 postpartum ~
1 week postpartum
I have already lost 12 pounds and definitely still have a few more to go! Im going to try and lose an extra five pounds. So I have to lose 13 more pounds to get to my ideal weight! Breastfeeding burns about 500 calories a day, so since I can’t work out breastfeeding is burning calories for me. What a perk! Breast is best for baby, and it is best for helping mom return to her normal body shape. Win win situation here! lol. I can’t really start toning up for a few more weeks, but what I can do is pay close attention to my diet. No junk food, no processed food, no crap basically.
Here is what I have been eating:
- 7am Breakfast: Creamy Citrus smoothieย (thanks to Kjirsten over @ Balanced Healthy Life I discovered one of my diet staples!)
- 10:30-11am Mid morning snack: Ezekial English Muffin with crunchy peanut butter
- 1-2 pm Lunch: Take out order of Blackened Salmon Salad from Caffe Primo (arugula, tomatoes, cucumber and a piece of salmon lightly seasoned with cajun seasoning and I use my own dressing from home – Garlic Expressions)
- 4 pm afternoon snack: medium sized Farm Fresh apple and a Cascadian Farms Dark Chocolate Almond Granola Bar
- 7-8pm Dinner: Kale PB2 Smoothie
This has been my typical diet since I returned home from the hospital. I honestly can’t get enough smoothies. They are so refreshing and leave me just the right amount of full (I always add vanilla protein powder) Plus they are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants so I know Hayden is getting a wide variety of nutrients!
Hopefully with just breast feeding and a healthy diet I can get my weight back to where I want it, and I am confident that I can. Toning up and making my deflated stomach look good again will have to wait, but you can bet as soon as I get the okay to start working out I am going to dive right in!
Please share your favorite smoothie recipes!ย

You’re looking great for just having a baby! ๐ You’ll be back to your old shape in no time!
I’m still loving the citrus smoothie as well! I usually eat them for lunch almost every day!
I think the hardest part of losing baby weight is finding time to workout! Some days I plan to workout but then the baby is having a day she just needs to be held all day by me. I’m not good at working out in the evenings so I’ll just skip the workout.
I love drinking smoothies in replace of meals because they are so delicious! ๐ To lose weight I like sticking with lots of lean protein, fruits, vegetables and low glycemic carbs like Ezekiel products. Also plenty of water too! ๐

I miss working out and can hardly wait to get back into the gym, or go to a yoga class.
My stomach feels really deflated and from the front looks so different post baby . I am really excited to change that! I want to be able to button my old jeans! I still can’t do that yet … how long did it take for your body to lose that deflated look??

You look so great! I am 38 weeks pregnant and am having a hard time figuring out what types of food to stock up on for post-partum. I am a vegan as well and don’t like to eat processed foods. Do you have any recommendations on what to keep around the house for quick nutrient dense meals? I thought about smoothies but have you had any trouble with the loud noise from a blender and a new baby?

I bet you are having or have had your baby by now!? Congrats if so!! You know the blender doesn’t really bother Hayden that much- its kind of like white noise. I usually put her in the other room when I do it for just a minute bc I am nervous about her little eardrums. She sleeps right through it tho and we live in a loft, so there aren’t any doors to the bedrooms! My favorite meals thus far have still been smoothies- they are helping me to not feel bloated and losing the baby weight while very nutrient dense. If I am sick of smoothies- I usually just stop by WF and grab some food from their hot salad bar. Timing isn’t very abundant to make a smoothie, much less cook anything so I just pick up my food to go. Grilled Tofu brown rice bowls with veggies and teriyaki sauce (from WF) have been this weeks go-to non smoothie favorite. Otherwise I would suggest lots and lots of snacks like fruit or carrots with hummus.

I found with my last pregnancy that loosing the weight wasn’t too hard but getting toned was. It also took so long for my skin around my tummy to shrink back. With this pregnancy I have started gyming already (From when Tate was 10 days old) but its very hard to make the time. I have to feed him, dash to gym and race home in time for his next feed. Im also breast feeding so he could want to feed anything from 2-4 hours, making setting time aside for gym very hard. The other day I trained my legs at home so that was easier

Wow I am jealous you are in the gym already! I am dying to go back, but have just been walking the dogs around the city to get my exercise since I had the baby attached to me 24/7 during our “problem weeks” I am so excited to start the days that I also have the mad-dash to the gym! How is your toning up going?
