*** Since I became pregnant my diet has been thrown off. I haven’t been completely vegan since September 2011 (about 7 weeks pregnant) I still try to include the healthiest and most nutritious foods in my diet at all times. I plan on returning to the vegan diet 100% after my baby is born (EDD is 4/30/2012) ***

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog.  My name is Jennifer Krausert.  I am twenty six years old.  I grew up in Minnesota, and moved to SoCal in 2003, studying Merchandise Product Development at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.  I never ended up finishing my studies at FIDM because fashion was no longer my passion.  I took some time off to figure out what my passions really were, and I fell in love with health and cooking.  I would stay up all night reading blogs, books, cooking, baking, and experimenting in the kitchen.  I fell completely head over heals for the vegan/raw diet and have never looked back.  I actually crave raw and vegan foods now, and could care less about the old foods I used to love.  Becoming a vegan is the best thing that has ever happened to me!  I also realize how important exercise is, and now I practice yoga (hot yoga, hot power fusion, or hot yoga sculpt) as much as I can – usually 5-6 x a week.  It is my favorite way to break a sweat, and trust me in hot yoga you definitely sweat (get all those yucky toxins out!) These healthy changes have changed my life in such a positive way, and I would like to share with the world what I have learned so far.  Hopefully I can inspire you to make your own healthy changes and then teach what you learn to others!  In this blog I will document what I eat, recipes, things related to health/nutrition/diet/exercise, pictures, and I’m sure lots of other random stuff.

ABC’s of me

xo Jennifer

  1. You have the most amazing eye’s in the world!

  2. AMAZING Jen .. thanks for sharing your secrets with the rest of us! xoxo

  3. Your gorgeous! Just found your blog through a comment you left on Kjirsten’s blog. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and I have serious baby fever so I love following pregnancy blogs and am excited now to follow yours!

I too went to FIDM here in San Francisco and I also lost my passion for the fashion industry and decided that career direction wasn’t right for me. I think one of things that’s great about college is seeing what you don’t like to do and in the end finding your true passions, which for me are now health and fitness 🙂

Congrats on your pregnancy and I look forward to reading more!

    • Hi! I’m glad you found my blog 🙂 sounds like we have a lot in common! and yes I totally agree college is definitely a place where you find yourself! too bad I am still repaying about $20k in student loans that I am doing nothing with! lol. oh well. you live and you learn. college was fun, I will admit that 🙂 I wish you the best of luck in starting your family soon! I thank kale green smoothies (folic acid) for my pregnancy! they are my good luck charm 😉 too bad since becoming pregnant I’m not such a fan anymore. working on that… I made one today and poured it into a glass… its waiting for me in the fridge if I ever get the desire to drink it! xoxoxo

      • Haha I’ve read that in the beginning of pregnancy a lot of women are turned off by many veggies – many that they loved before they got pregnant! And that the cravings for veggies come back in their second tri – and for now I guess you can chug it down while plugging your nose?! 😉

Look forward to following you on your journey!! xoxo

  4. congrat and best wishes

  5. Just stumbled across your blog—I am trying to get into more raw and vegan eating, and have just jumped on the yoga bandwagon. You’re inspiring! 🙂

  6. you are headed down a great path girlie! I remember when I first started in with the raw/vegan/yogi world and each day was always a little more fun discovering all of the possibilities! They really are endless! Good luck to you 🙂

    Hi Jennifer!

I just stumbled upon your blog as I was looking for info on kale! What a blessing! I am doing nutrition research for my dad- he is a MAJOR carnivore who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. My mom has immediately put him on a strict vegan diet as he seeks alternative cancer treatment in Houston. Although my dad has been taking a great product called Juice Plus, his other habits contributed to his cancer and diabetes. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful, practical and encouraging website. It will come in handy as we try to make a vegan diet sound (and remain) appealing to a man who loves meat and sugar! I will say that after juicing a concoction of kale, celery, cabbage, ginger, and apple for him….. it made us all want to run to a piece of bacon for comfort!

    • I am so happy you guys are getting started with a healthier lifestyle! If you gradually change habits instead of doing it all T once it tends to be a little easier because its not as drastic. Wishing you and your family great health in this new year!!

I subscribed to your blog updates after seeing your blog via balancedhealthylife at the beginning of last year when I was pregnant and you were pregnant, too. I loved going through your posts and then going to TJ’s afterward to shop ingredients. Both blogs were my motivation to not give in to the bad eating, so that when my husband got home from deployment I would already have snapped back into my skinny jeans! ..But where have your posts gone?! Lol. Post baby, I’m even more in need of your motivating entries. And maybe ways of incorporating exercise while being a SAHM? I know motherhood is ridiculously low on spare time so I’ve tried being patient 🙂 Hope all is well!
